We grant to you a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, revocable licence to view this website and the material on this website on a computer or mobile device via a web browser, and to copy and store the webpages or material on this website (including ‘free downloads’) for your own personal, professional and non-commercial use.

You may not reproduce in any format (including on another website or social media platform, or in any printed publication) any part of our website (including content, images, designs, look and feel) without our prior written consent.

Other than the above, we do not grant you any other rights in relation to this website or the material on this website, and all other rights are reserved. For the avoidance of doubt, you must not adapt, edit, change, transform, translate, publish, republish, redistribute, broadcast, rebroadcast, or show or play in public this website or the material on this website (in any form or media) without our prior written permission.

If you print off, reproduce, copy or download any part of our site in breach of this notice, your right to use our website will cease immediately and you must, at our option, return or destroy any copies of the materials you have made.

2. Trademark

‘Carolyn Spring’ is a registered UK trademark (registration number UK00003442478), registered in Class 41 covering training and publishing services.

Use of the ‘Carolyn Spring’ name or mark in connection with training, courses, workshops, publications, books, articles, podcasts, or other educational or publishing services requires our prior written consent. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Identifying Carolyn Spring as the author, contributor, endorser, or originator of any published or broadcast material
  • Using the name ‘Carolyn Spring’ in the title, subtitle, marketing or promotional material of any publication or training programme
  • Using the name ‘Carolyn Spring’ in a manner that suggests affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, or commercial partnership

Permitted uses that do not require prior consent include:

  • Linking to publicly available content on www.carolynspring.com
  • Recommending Carolyn’s books, training, or publications by name in good faith
  • Brief properly-attributed quotation of short passages of Carolyn’s written work within the limits of fair dealing under sections 29 and 30 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (typically for criticism, review, news reporting, or quotation), with clear attribution and a link to the source

We take the protection of our trademark seriously and have a duty to enforce it. Unauthorised use may result in legal action, including claims for trademark infringement and/or passing off.

3. False attribution

Under section 84 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, Carolyn has the statutory right not to have material falsely attributed to her as author.

This means you must not publish, distribute, sell, broadcast, or otherwise circulate any work – including books, articles, training materials, social media content, video content, podcasts, online resources, or AI-generated material – that:

  • Names Carolyn Spring as the author, co-author, contributor, source or origin of material that she did not in fact write or directly contribute to
  • Paraphrases or summarises material under Carolyn’s name in a way that materially misrepresents what she has actually published
  • Attributes views, frameworks, statements or quotations to Carolyn that she has not made

This applies whether the misattribution is deliberate or unintentional. If you are in any doubt about whether a particular use would constitute false attribution, please contact us before publication.

4. Permissions and licensing

Requests for permission to reproduce, adapt, translate, or otherwise use any of our copyrighted material – including for use in books, training programmes, conference materials, publications, podcasts, online courses, or commercial settings – should be sent to us in writing in advance of any intended use. Permissions are often granted free of charge for non-commercial, educational, charitable, or survivor-focused projects, and on commercial terms for other uses.

Please see our Attribution and Permissions page for guidance on how to make a permissions request and what to include.

5. AI, machine learning, and automated systems

The use of any material on this website (including text, images, audio, video, downloads, and structured data) for the training, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, or other development of artificial intelligence systems, machine-learning models, or large language models is expressly prohibited without our prior written consent.

This prohibition applies to all forms of automated scraping, harvesting, indexing for the purpose of model training, and any other use that would result in our material being incorporated into the training data, weights, or outputs of any AI system. The grant of a licence to view this website for personal, professional and non-commercial use (see section 1) does not extend to AI training or to any use by automated systems.

We reserve the right to require evidence that our content has not been used to train AI systems, and to pursue legal action where unauthorised use is identified.

6. Enforcement

We take the protection of our copyright and trademark very seriously. If we discover that you have breached the terms of this notice, we may bring legal proceedings against you and seek monetary damages and/or an injunction to stop you using our materials, our name, or our trademark. You could also be ordered to pay our legal costs.
